A recent featured story in the National Association of REALTORS® reveals that seller’s who choose to sell themselves often lose money. Because they don’t know the real estate market and are not trained negotiators, they settle for much less than if they had used a professional real estate agent. Beyond losing money, they also do more work and take more risks as they open their home to people without prequalifying to make sure they are serious buyers.
FSBOs earn an average of $60,000 to $90,000 less on the sale of their home than sellers who work with a real estate agent, according to the National Association of REALTORS®.
